About Daniel

Hello, my name is Daniel Wong, and I am 34 year old entrepreneur who runs businesses online.

This is my personal blog. It is focused on “building businesses online” where I share my journey and experiences with you.

My goal is to create insightful and relevant content that you can put to work in your personal and professional life.

My Story

Born in Sabah, Malaysia.

I started my first business selling DIY-torch lights when I was 10 years old, where I cello-taped light bulbs and AA batteries together and sold it for RM2 each.

At the age of 16, I started selling bootlegged CD songs at RM10/piece, whereas I create a custom playlist for my clients. This was extremely profitable.

The teachers bought from me, even if it’s illegal to do these at school.

“Mend the rules, don’t break ’em”

The entrepreneur spirit in my could not stop there. With the influence from my friend, I started become “bookie” for English Premier League matches, where I earn the margins between bets.

At the age of 19, I went to Australia for further studies.

I found myself facing some of the biggest challenges of my life. I had to communicate in a new language while attending the same prestigious school with some of the world’s smartest brain.

It was hard for me to make friends when I couldn’t command the language fluently. I turned to the internet and I found myself spending the majority of my time playing online games.

On the side, I was searching for something I can do to earn extra money because like most of the students, we lack of money to spend!

My friend pointed me to another friend who was travelling full time, fully supported by a website that’s monetised by Google Adsense.

I created my first Adsense website, got addicted to making money from “thin air”, and immediately found out what I love to do!

Make money from the internet!

The more websites I build, the more opportunities appeared.

Next thing you know, I found myself deep in the SEO industry, working alongside some of the greatest SEO communities there is.

At the same time, I started scaling what works… build more websites!

More! more! more!

Until I got burnt out when I reach almost 50 websites, all built entirely on my own, with minimal helps from online contractors.

All of these websites need cash to grow. Such as web hosting, domain names, content writers, tools subscriptions and lots of backlinks.

I ran outta cash, and fast.

Before I know it, my bank has been depleted, and all the websites I’ve built became stagnant.

In 2012, I created SabahGuide.com, where I get commissions from referrals I sent to local businesses, such as car rentals, tour packages and hotel bookings.

In 2014, I started Bingo Web Solutions where I create lead generating websites for local businesses, mostly via “pay per lead” method. Working together closely with 15-20 businesses.

In 2018, I decided to put together a local team to handle my client’s work as well as personal projects, renamed my company to “Bingo Digital Marketing”.

Through my entrepreneurial journey, I had several failures (not-listed above). I simply learned from those and kept moving forward.

My Personal Life

I am happily married to my beautiful wife, Rikol Loo. She is super smart and a licensed quantity surveyor. She dropped her career to be housewife full time after marrying.

We currently live in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah.

We have 2 sons, Derrick and Danny. Our 3rd child, is arriving September 2019.

As they say, parenthood isn’t always easy, but it’s lots of fun.

In my free time, I enjoy watching Baby Shark and lion dance performances on YouTube with my family.

Finally

Thank you for taking the time to read this.

I know I have an inspiring story, but I want to inspire you in the right way.

Everything I say is from my personal experience. None of the things I share will make you “get rich quick” — far from it.

Building an online business takes a lot of time, hard work, patience, and luck.

My goal here is to share my experiences, lessons I learned, case-studies, and resources to help you build a successful online business.

I hope that you enjoyed the story of my life.

Once again, thanks a lot for taking your time to read this. I look forward to connecting with you.

Cheers!
